March Ministry Recap

Image
As we head into April, I want to update you guys on all of the ways God has been working in my life and in my ministry! Core : Getting to lead a Core this year has been such a sweet gift! I have loved getting to know the girls God has provided and cast a vision for them to use their college years to be disciples. We spent March giving girls in our core an opportunity to lead a study each week. This was a great way for our potential leaders to step up and gain some experience leading! We studied the book of Philippians, one chapter at a time. Philippians is such an encouraging book and we have all enjoyed doing a deeper study on it this month! From this we have learned about being a servant leader, finding a deep sense of joy in Christ, what it means to live as a citizen of heaven, and so much more! One of my prayers for my core before the school year was that they would be faithful, love God deeply, and love others well! I have seen this in them so clearly and for that, I am grateful!

February Wrap Up!

Image
How is it already March? It feels like February just blew right by. Even though time is flying, it is so evident that God is working at UT Dallas! Before I get into the details, I'm going to start with sharing some good news!  Good News: -My Core is going really well! We have been doing topical studies over different things we tend to idolize. This has started some great discussions and has brought us all closer together!  -The girls in my core have become really sweet friends with one another. One of my prayers for them was that they would see each other as friends and I can see God answering that so clearly!  -I got to give a talk on Spiritual Friendships for our students! This went really well and I am praying that it will cast a vision for them to dive deeper in their friendships. -UTD announced they will be opening the campus up next semester! This means FOCUS can operate in a normal capacity and we can meet with students freely on campus. Praise God! -I get to stay on staff

December Ministry Update!

5 Months Down, 5 More to Go!     I cannot believe I’m already half way done with the Apprenticeship! I am so thankful for the ways you all have supported me and prayed for me throughout this process. These past ten months have shaped me both as a disciple and as a minister. God has been working in really neat ways throughout this past semester and I’m so glad I get to share it with you!     Sermons: In December, I’ve had the opportunity to give two sermons. The first sermon I gave was to just one staff member, a guest, and two other apprentices. This was for what we call a “Preaching Lab.” Preaching Labs provide apprentices with the opportunity to practice writing and delivering sermons. We are given feedback and encouragements, and they have overall been so helpful. For this sermon, I preached on Psalm 13, which has been a Psalm that has impacted and transformed the way I relate to God. In Psalm 13, David is honest with God about the loneliness he is experiencing and the lies he is

October Update

Image
Wow! I cannot believe we're already heading into November! I guess time flies when you're having fun, right? Doing ministry has been the sweetest blessing. I love getting a front row seat to see how God is working and making Himself known on UTD's campus.  Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.  October was packed with tons of stuff! It has been a joy getting to partner with you guys and I'm so excited I get to share what's been going on with you. Let's get started!  Core: Leading Core this year has been a blast! All of the girls in my Core were already Christians when they came to college, so we've been focusing on casting vision for them to step up in leadership and live a life of making disciples. This type of ministry is new for me, but it has been really sweet getting to see these girls get excited to share the gospel with their friends and family.  Here is my Core dressed up as a family for Halloween. We have a mom, a grandma, and some triplet

September Ministry Update!

Image
Hey guys!  Thanks for checking out my September blog! God has been working in such incredible and unique ways this semester. I wanted to start this post by sharing some good news! I met one of the girls in my core during an online event at the beginning of the semester. She has been consistent, available, and teachable! I know God is going to use her in powerful ways throughout the rest of her time in college. Another girl in my core has been asking questions about what it means to be a spiritual leader in college! During quarantine, she grew interested in walking with God and decided to dive into Scripture on her own for the first time. God used that time in her life to prepare her for a lifetime of knowing Him and guiding others into a relationship with Him! I had the opportunity to start bringing World Prayer into our community. We are starting this on our social media accounts and will hopefully get to do World Prayer events when we are allowed to meet on the campus in person! Mini

August Wrap Up!

Image
Hey Guys! I’m officially one month into the apprenticeship! August was a month full of learning, adapting, meeting new students, overcoming obstacles, and trusting that God will work in some pretty neat ways. I'm excited to tell y'all about it! Welcome Week At the beginning of each school year, UTD normally hosts two Weeks of Welcome for the new students. This gives FOCUS a great opportunity to put on events and welcome students into our ministry. Given the current circumstances, our staff had to get creative with how we planned to meet the students that are stepping on to campus for the first time. We hosted online events in addition to a few socially distant hangouts at UTD. After one week of having in person plans, the campus announced new regulations. These new rules prohibited student organizations from having any kind of presence on campus. To be honest, this news was frustrating and hard to understand. It seemed as though very few people were willing to fight for the em

Hello!

Getting Started!   After many months of change, transition, and anticipation, the Apprenticeship has finally started! Although it is going to be a unique year due to COVID-19, I am eager to see how God will continue to work through these circumstances.    We officially started August 1 st  with an orientation, our first class, and a “reading day”. Prior to our first day, we were responsible for listening to a series of lectures on Biblical Theology. These lectures were really helpful and prepared me for the upcoming year by teaching me how to approach and think through scripture differently. In addition, as a lot of you guys know, I spent the months leading up to the Apprenticeship building my Prayer and Financial Support Team. It was AMAZING to see how God provided in such incredible ways, and in a world-wide pandemic at that. It definitely reassured me that I am right where God wants me to be this year. Thank you so much to everyone that has prayed for me, invested in me, and suppo
